Clinical Skills Lab-Clinical Psychology

General Information

The CSL-CP is an internship program where Clinical Psychology students can develop competences that are at the heart of the clinical psychology profession. Specifically, students will engage in different activities to develop competences in five key domains: (i) Psychological Assessment, (ii) Psychological Interventions, (iii) Communication, (iv) Connecting Science and Practice, and (v) Professionalism.

Activities

The internship will not be offered in a true clinical setting and, therefore, contact with real “patients” is limited.  However, we collaborate with the student-psychologist office, and some of the interns will be offered to facilitate peer-support groups in collaboration with the student-wellbeing team. Other activities include self-study using online resources, role-play with fellow students (and occasionally actors), writing diagnostic reports to develop skills in psychological assessment, and online coaching.

Workshops will be provided by experts from inside and outside of the clinical psychology division. Moreover, there is room for interns to organize their own workshops. The CSL-CP will take place on-campus.

  • The emphasis in this internship is on self-study more than on contact with patients. It is therefore important that you have sufficient disciplinary skills to work through the material yourself.
  • The CSL-CP is a relatively new initiative, based on co-creational principles. It is not a staggered bed, and we are therefore looking for students who are enthusiastic to engage in this ever-evolving trajectory and are willing to actively seek learning opportunities.
  • CBT is the (evidence based) basis of the CSL-CP; we expect you to be familiar with CBT or interested to further develop CBT skills.
  • A maximum of 10 students can enter the Clinical Skills Lab- Clinical Psychology; these students will work closely together in different assignments, besides all self-study activities. Thus, we are looking for students who are good collaborators yet also able to work independently.
